STONEWARE

Stoneware is a beautiful and durable choice for both functional and decorative items, but if you care for it properly, it will last for years.

  • Avoid overwatering: stoneware is not porous, meaning that moisture cannot escape as easily as with terracotta or other porous materials. This can lead to water retention in the soil, so water your plants sparingly to avoid soggy soil.

  • To keep your pots looking fresh, dust them regularly and wipe them down with a damp cloth if necessary. Avoid scouring pads that can scratch the glaze.

  • Although stoneware is more durable than some other materials, it can crack in freezing temperatures, especially if it contains moisture. In colder climates, bring outdoor pots inside during winter or empty them and store them in a dry place.

  • If you use stoneware pots indoors, put feet or a felt protector underneath to prevent scratches or moisture damage to the surface.
